Bond had been working with his prize he'd gotten last weekend. He loved nothing more than a new toy and the more dangerous, the better. He fully intended on using it on Q, not above using the lad as an experiment.

He had the charged stone in his pocket as he made his way to the kitchens to have a cuppa and a snack before turning in for the night. The kitchen was deserted, even the staff off in the back doing their nightly closing up duties.

Bond poured his own tea, the stone making him radiate an energy of pure sensuality. Powerful sexuality.

Harry stared at him in disbelief. "How can you possibly think that statement just made things better? I should fire you on the spot for even bringing that thing into this school!"

"I meant to trade it. Not use it! Now it's useless. Just a bloody rock," he huffed, chucking it at Harry.

Harry caught it in one hand, and then slammed it down onto his desk. He seriously could not handle the jumble of emotions he felt right now. Anger, embarrassment... maybe even disappointment. But the anger was pretty front and center.

Bond fumed for a moment, but it swiftly became clear that this was the final nail in the coffin. He'd hoped, probably irrationally, he'd get Harry back.

It would never happen now.

The weight of the resignation he felt crushed the air out of him for a moment.

"Then do it, Harry," he said. "Then do it."

Harry looked at him for a long moment and then said coolly, "Perhaps you having to tell Q that you've already broken your promise is punishment enough."

YEs. Yes, that was going to be terribly painful. Why he'd thought he could open himself to this grief again, he wasn't sure.

"I imagine you did pick up a little backbone afterall," he grumbled.

Harry hadn't been able to keep himself from making the dig, but he felt just as terrible himself. He didn't want Q hurt. Not by him, and not by Bond.

But to Bond's reaction, Harry looked a touch surprised. "You're not going to try to convince me not to tell him?"

"I will tell him, Harry. I won't have him find out the way you did," he said. "Believe it or not, I've taken away a few lessons."

Harry's lips set in a straight line. Then he looked away.

Perhaps he should be glad that Bond apparently cared more about Q than he had about him. For Q's sake. But he couldn't be. It hurt.

"Bring a dark magic artifact into his school again and I'll throw you out on your bloody ass," he said. "Now get out."

To think, only moments ago, he'd been thinking... well, it didn't matter. It wasn't real. Hell, James hadn't even apologized. Again.

Bond nodded tightly. He was going to need to be much more careful.
