"I will," he swore. They drove on a bit and Bond checked the GPS again. "How bloody far is this place? We've got to be almost there. Zoom that out and see..."

He hated the countryside in the dark. But thank god for technology. It wasn't all that long ago he would have been relatively blind.

Bond caught Q's face and tipped it up so he could look into his eyes for a moment. He searched for truth and found it. His own eyes closed then and he kissed Q, soft and slow and tender. His tongue flicked lightly then he sucked the man's bottom lip gently.

"Breakfast, then," he whispered. "I'll make the tea."

But he didn't let go. Not immediately.

"Breakfast, yes," Q parroted, sounding breathless and looking flushed.

"You do terrible things to me. It's dangerous," he accused with a soft growl.

"I'm not unaffected, you know. Whatever I do to you, you do to me as well," he said, daring to sneak in and kiss the curve of Q's neck before he let go so he could get up. If he didn't then he'd never let the man out of bed.

The kiss prompted a small smile, and Q almost blushed before getting to his feet and heading to the kitchen.

Bond got up and his first trip was to the toilet. He was in there for longer than one might expect and when he emerged he had shaven. He wasn't about to be rough when he had Q's fine, silken skin to taste.

He came to the kitchen and turned on the kettle, then eased in behind Q. He did his best to not be a nuisance. His face was soft and he smelled masculine and of his lather that hinted at virility and power.

"Sorry for the lag," he murmured.

Leaning back against him, Q smiled faintly and hummed.

"Toast and eggs for breakfast," he said, sliding the eggs around the pan to make sure they didn't stick, then turning and leaning in to kiss Bond's freshly shaved jaw.

"Delicious," Bond said. "I like mine runny...if you can do that."

He had, in all his years, broken the yolk more often than not when he'd cooked for himself. He tried to be delicate and patient, aware of how fragile eggs were. He was just far too blunt most of the time.

"I can," Q nodded, kissing him again. "Go sit, I'll bring it through when it's ready."

It was as if it hurt him to tear away. Bond lunged for just one more kiss before moving back. He fetched cups and set about making the tea since the electric kettle was nearly done. He gott the bags to steeping, then he obeyed Q and sat down.

"I meant it...a bit ago. When I said I want to know you. I'll not press, but I'm desperately curious about you. Anything you tell me about your past- your life- I'll treasure."

"I honestly wouldn't even know where to start," Q confessed, plating their food and carrying it over to the table.

"Start where you like, when you like," Bond replied. "I'd like to thinkI have plenty of time to get to know you, Q. This isn't an interrogation. I don't need the answers now, over eggs. Just...some day. And I'll do the same for you."

Q considered that, then nodded.

"Alright," he agreed with a hint of a smile. "For now, however, let's just enjoy breakfast."

"Yes. I'm starving," he said. "And after, since it's safe here, I think I might go for a run. Just a short one around the compound. I can check everything out then."

Sitting down, Q began to eat.

"I'll come with you," he offered. "I'd like to get an idea of the layout. I'm sure I can keep up," he said- though, well, he wasn't sure he could. He did, however, think Bond might run just a bit slower for him.

"You're sure you can keep up," Bond chuckled. "You'll pop another stitch. But, alright. You can come," he said. He'd pull up a bit, or run ahead and circle back- there was a lot he could do to keep Q included.

"I'm sure I've packed something I can jog in," Q replied, nodding his agreement, then sipping his tea as he watched Bond.

"I'm curious to see what the perimeter of this compound is like," he said. "I couldn't see very well in the dark...and I'm not used to putting that much trust in anyone. Even Moneypenny."

"based on what I could see from the window, it appears to be quite scenic. ...Picturesque, even," Q said blandly, offering a faint smile. "I'd be much more interested n finding what's hidden out here. I bet there are some wonderful toys tucked away."

"I wouldn't doubt that at all. Infrared. Motion sensors. Seizmic readers. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more toys than at Q Branch. Military surplus," Bond grinned. The thought made him a bit giddy as well.

"I imagine it wouldn't take too much sleuthing to find our way into the storage and security areas..." Q suggested innocently.

"You're a terrible influence," Bond chuckled. "Is that what you'd rather do than run? Peek at the tech?"

[quartermaster_q]

"A little breaking and entering can be very relaxing- Certainly more fun than going for a jog. Don't you agree, double-o seven?" the young quartermaster asked with a smirk.

"You really are the devil. It comes as no shock you spent time in prison," Bond quipped dryly, but the light in his eyes was affectionate. It was certainly no strike against the younger man. Bond had done his time in prison as well...it had just happened to be North Korean. They had strong feelings about state secrets.

Bond polished off his egg and sopped up the last of the runny yolk with his toast.

"I'm going to put on something appropriate for snooping around an MI6 installation. Join me when you're ready..."

Q nodded, considering that and then deciding to do the same.

Dressed in a well fitting plain black shirt and simple black trousers, he met Bond outside.

"Where do you think we should start?" he asked.

"I'd say the majority of the good stuff will be underground, and the heart will be in the most defensible cabin. So let's go this way," he said, striking out. The day was quite nice, overcast but no real threat of rain. Just enough to shrug off any oppressive heat.

"How are you feeling? Healing, I mean?" he asked then as they walked along.
