Around the time the rest of Q branch was clearing out to catch to Tube and find their way home before the sun set, Bond wandered in to see if Q was ready.

"They've set the implant for Thursday morning," he said. "Unless something comes up."

As he made his announcement, he picked up a new creation to inspect it.

"Oh, Q," Bond admonished. "As if I'd discard good pussy."

His smirk announced that he thought he was hilarious.

Q smacked his shoulder, frowning slightly. "I'm being vulnerable, you absolute twat."

Though for all he was sulking now, he clearly wasn't as upset as he was pretending to be.

Bond laughed a little, got it out of his system, then began to kiss Q and touch him and make himself a general nuisance.

"I would never," he said. "I love you."

Q happily squirmed beneath him, until he took James in hand and started to pull him off.

"I love you too, James," he said softly, his tone more sentimental now.

He wondered if Q would burn down the world if anyone harmed the double 0, if he could possibly love Bond as much as Bond loved him.

There was only one way to know, and he hoped, for both their sakes, it was something that would never arise. Bond groaned as Q's hand proved the ultimate distraction from any thoughts of love or disaster.

Sometimes this still didn't feel real, that Bond couldn't have chosen him. Why would he? He was perfection, and Q was just... Q. But he was here and he was claiming him as what he wanted, and... And it was everything.

"You're even more beautiful in moments of pleasure."

Bond's breath caught and he immediately grabbed Q's wrist.

"I'll be too pretty to look at if you don't stop," he panted.

Q's hand stilled, but he rolled his hips a little so Bond could feel his arousal.

"You drive me mad," he said as he formed to Q and began to grind against him. "I want you more than I care to admit. Do you have any idea how much effort it took today in M's office? Almost too much..."

Bond would never crack, but he also rarely admitted how difficult it could be to hide everything.

"Good, now you know how I've felt since we met," Q gasped.

"You haven't," he countered in disbelief...and flattered it could be true.

"It's a wonderful either of us get anything done at all..." he smirked a bit, then chased another kiss.

Q hummed in agreement, then moaned into the kiss, pressing closer and practically clawing at him.

"That first day, at the museum... You thought I was some student trying to pull you. I might as well have been, because I knew I wanted you the moment I saw you," he confessed.

"I was sure there was some mistake. Or maybe a joke. Someone sending someone so beautiful to me..." he said, drawing back enough to admire Q.

"A work of art worthy of the Gallery," he said with absolute confidence as he looked at Q.

Q was sure no one had ever spoken about him the way James did. He'd always been lost in the crowd. He didn't think himself unattractive, just... Nothing special.

"There was nothing in that place as beautiful as you," Q said quietly. "When I saw you... I'd seen photos, I knew you were handsome, but... You are so much more than just handsome. It's not just your looks that drew me in, it was the set of your jaw, the way you spoke... I knew I wanted you."

"And now you have me," he said softly.

And then he grinned like a wicked child.

"And you'll never be rid of me."

"Certainly not if we keep winding up in safe houses. Should we have the wedding in one?" he joked.

The thought of marriage hurt more than he'd ever admit, and would never show.

”Probably the best place,” he laughed instead.

"Maybe on separate contents via coms," the boffin chuckled.

"The very definition of romance," he quipped.

Q smiled, utterly charmed by the other man.

"I don't think I'll ever actually wed," he admitted.

"M suggested...the last one..." he clarified, "...That I either marry or name a next of kin for the next time I die near the equator."

He shifted a little to rest comfortably while they chatted.

"I don't think she was concerned with my love life. Just my estate."

"She could be cruel sometimes," Q said. "I know you were married before. It's in your file."

"I've no doubt you know more about me than anyone," he said. "If you've seen my file."

His fingers drew lazy lines over Q's skin, learning his body, every freckle and hair.

"I wasn't married long," he offered.

Q covered his hand with his own, squeezing it gently.

"You've known a lot of loss," he said softly.

"It's the nature of the game," Bond said. "There will always be losses."

Some costs were higher than others, but always it came down to his loyalty to the empire- and the number M had worked on him since he'd been in college that he was blind to- that he weathered their losses and carried on.

"And there will always be a winner," he smiled then.
