They were on the trail of an arms dealer who was proving to be ellusive. But Bond found his man at a resort in St. Croix and after making contact- where he'd pissed the man off even as he'd gotten a name- he then proceeded to seduce the man's girlfriend. Call it a back door. They went back to her villa and Bond snogged her a bit, working her up, then suggested strawberries and champagne and a shower, which she gladly agreed to. He placed the order as she slipped into the bathroom and out of her barely-there gown. As he spoke in broken French he downloaded the contents of the private laptop onto a stick for Q. The porter on the phone asked for how many the order was for and Bond said one...then abruptly left. He had what he'd come for.

In the car he patched into Q branch and set up his GPS. "I'm on my way to the landing strip, Q," he said, taking the island roads at breakneck speeds. "I'll meet Fleix on the flight and be back in London shortly for you to go over the information I've gotten."

"I built it as a panic room. I can't have people getting in here- physically or digitally. There's too much information- Too much tech," Q snapped in return.

Bond snarled his frustration and threw his useless gun onto the sofa. He continued to pace, hands scrubbing through his short blonde hair. He looked up, looked to the steel...

Then he sighed.

"Bloody hell," he swore...then went for the scotch.

"Forty-eight hours isn't that long really," Q insisted, keeping his tone as bland as ever. "And really, I don't see why you're so cross. ...It's terribly clever, really."

"You think you're so clever," Bond replied crisply...but the truth of it was that it really was. 24 hours with no word and no trace of their Quartermaster and MI6 would be scanning all of England for him. Completely out of contact, he'd made himself more obvious than anything.

"Oh, so I should have just let them break in, hoping they didn't manage to overpower us?" Q asked, using that posh tone of his. He knew that would only annoy Bond more, but sometimes the boffin had more nerve than sense.

"Don't be daft. Of course not," he huffed. Bond began to pace again, glass in hand.

"It's the most sensible...it just also happens to be the most dramatic."

"Security is important, if I didn't have this sort of thing in place, I could never work outside the office," Q shrugged. "Look, we've got food, and we've got one another for company... Think of it as a vacation. Enjoy it, James, because it will be over before you know it," he assured Bond, casting one last glance toward the secured door before heading off to feed Oberon.

"A vacation," he replied, then muttered under his breath,"you must be joking..."

But the truth of the matter was that they were in a vault, the living embodiment of 's are as house's so Bond realised he needed to relax.

Q finished feeding the cat, then set about making some eggs and toast for himself and Bond.

"I've some films downloaded, if you want to watch something," he offered in that soothing and mild tone of his.

Q's tone worked wonders on the wild animal that snarled inside the older agent's skin. He calmed, bit by bit and drink by drink and soon enough he was in the kitcehn, eased up behind him with a hand on his hip.

"We could watch a film," he agreed sweetly.

Leaning back into him, Q scrambled the eggs gently, leaving them light and fluffy.

"Why don't you butter the toast first?" he suggested, so used to handling Bond that he hardly even realized he was doing it. "We'll have breakfast, then we can watch a film or put on some music. Whatever you like, James."

And Bond took to it without question. An order of buttering toast wasn't life or death, no hair trigger moment where he had to make a call. Just toast, just a clear instruction. Q finished the eggs, Bond finished the toast, and for the moment it was domestic bliss- so much as spies could manage.

"I'll take the plates, you bring the tea?" he suggested, not daring to order Q when the man was so clearly in charge of this particular mission.

The lack of daylight was...bothersome...for reasons he couldn't explain. Or maybe he didn't want to think on it in the moment.

Q nodded, carrying the tea tray through as Oberon trotted along behind him. The cat would miss its sunlight eventually, but for now it was more interested in the lovely scent of breakfast.

It was worth noting, however, that for all the younger man seemed calm, and the flat was blissfully quiet, Q was nursing a strong feeling of unease. His gaze kept flickering to the door- As though he expected someone to come crashing through the heavy metal shutter. ...An impossible feat, and a stupid thing to worry about, but a worry he had none the less.

"I think after breakfast I'll have a shower," he said, making small talk as he poured the tea and tried not to let pointless anxiety get the best of him.

"I think I'll have you," Bond replied, quite smoothly. There were things he said that if they came from anyone else they would sound utterly ridiculous, but Bond had an air that gave him an air of class.

Raising a brow, Q offered the other man the barest hint of a smile.

"You sound terribly certain of that," he replied.

"Forty eight hours," Bond replied. "And only so much telly..."

Looking thoughtful, Q took a bite of his toast, chewing slowly, and then swallowing before speaking again.

"You don't think turning this into a sexy romp trivializes it all a bit?" he asked. Though honestly, he thought it was a perfectly reasonable way to spend the time- He just enjoyed pushing Bond's buttons a bit, any chance he got.

"I'm not going to be on high alert for two days while trapped in a tin," Bond said simply. Then he smiled. "And there's nothing trivial about being with you. Nothing trivial at all about making you ecstatic."

"Ecstatic? Bold choice of words, Bond," Q replied with a faint smirk. "And just how do you intent to thrill me, double-o seven? Don't spare me any details."

"You've hardly finished breakfast...you hardly expect me to layout the whole fortress holiday for you right now," he smirked. But as he spoke he left his plate and tea on the acrylic trunk that served as a coffee table and he sank to his knees before Q. He ran his hands up and down the man's thighs.

"I think my first order of business will be making sure you stay awake..."

"I'm not tired today, I've had plenty of sleep," Q grinned, pushing Bond back playfully with one bare foot.

He was about to lean down to steal a kiss, but was soon interrupted by a loud thunk as something hit the metal. It was enough to make the younger man flinch, even though he knew there was no way anyone was getting through that door without raising too many alarms. ...Still, whoever they were dealing with wasn't some amateur.

That sound ut Bond immediately on edge. He'd been playing, smiling, and yet in an instant he was like a guard dog on point, ready to tear the throat out od whoever came through.

No one came through, though, and his adrenaline was useless for anything other than making him fidgety and anxious,

"I'm starting to worry I've made an error in trapping us here," Q said softly, the confession a rare moment coming from someone who was usually quite proud and confident.

"There's nothing to be done for it now. When all this is over you'll improve the system. That's what you do. But for now we just need to keep our wits abotu us. and the gun close, I think," Bond said calmly.

"So, less romping, more planning?" Q sighed. "I suppose you know best in these situations."
